Duany Plater-Zyberk and Company Awarded Perdido Key Master Plan Project

Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company aka DPZ has been awarded the contract to conceive the Perdido Key Master Plan.

DPZ is an internationally renowned leader in planning and new urbaninsm.

DPZ is a a Miami, Florida-based architecture and town planning firm founded in 1980. The firm was started by the husband – wife team of Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk. The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners awarded the contract on June 28,2012. DPZ won the contract over seven different planning firms. Three of the Planning firms were short listed, they included DPZ, Atkins North America and VHB Miller Sellen.

The Initial Public hearing shall be held on August 26, 2012 at the Perdido Bay Community Center located on Innerarity Point Road. The meeting will be held from 6:00- 8:30 pm.

EDITED AUGUST 25, 2012 , The PERDIDO KEY MASTER PLAN PUBLIC HEARING has been rescheduled to September 13, 2012 due to Tropical Storm Isaac threatening the coastal areas.

Some of DPZ’s work includes Seaside and Alys Beach in south Walton County, Florida and Lost Rabbit in Madison Mississippi. DPZ’s resume also includes two local developments, The Village of Tannin in Orange Beach and the now defunct Bon Secour Village in Gulf Shores.
